Ceramics/Collaboration

This collaboration with The Granite began in the winter of 2020 and was officially released in the spring of 2021 through small online auctions.

I believe that we all hold to certain images and forms that speak to an ancestral part of ourselves. Within my work, hand and hair- - two components of our outer physical selves, to which I attribute the most individuality, inheritance, and measurement of time- - are often present. In my hands I can see my mother’s hands, and slowly they are becoming my grandmother’s hands. They embody the work that has been done and the work that lies in wait. My braids and the braids of my family have fallen and grown again and some lie in the ground for the earth to hold. These symbols are juxtaposed through the exploration of the abstract temporal self within the physical form. Much of my work is manifested on paper, using ink, and on textiles, drawn with needle and thread. The Granite has led to unique variables where shapes and energies of each artist meet at an intersection of cultural and artistic change.
